FREEDOM

Hello,hello....and hello. Since I started working in April I haven't had much time to blog and give you some news....well this is how it goes my good brothas & sistas on deck. We are free from physical and physiological oppression but are we free from mental oppression. Its like everywhere you go people do and say the samethings subconsciously without realizing it, its like being a zombie. As human beings we have needs and wants to satisfy this I'm sure we know by now you don't have to be an "A" student 2 know that hey...my point is we celebrate freedom annually but r we really free? Free to be ourselves, free to express ourselves, free to go places without being looked at funny like "what's that over there" are we free to make the choices that make a difference in our lives and are those choices influenced by what others think and have to say? I'm not pointing any fingers or scrutinizing the question is are you free? Are you free at work, are you free at home, are you free on the street, are you free when you are in your car driving to your destination, are you free during the day or at night? There is no such thing as perfection in the world we live in by far.
The above mentioned posed as questions are related to knowledge of self....if one lives to harm and endanger others and those who are to serve and protect are but a distant and the agony of fear rests upon the souls of the innocent is it still freedom? When you have to feed your child and your means of doing that is an occupation that is authorised by power hungry individuals looking to prove a point every chance they get even if it means jeopardizing one's well being is it still the freedom of better jobs that make a better life? Everyone of us on this planet has a purpose and every person is a genius in their own right you just have to be free....free to be you. Reality is what we live its upto u what u want to make of it, come lets define free=free is to be able to speak your mind, free is respecting yourself 1st so to respect another, free is having an understanding, free is living everyday like its your last, free is to be independent, most of all free is to love. (A) Freestyle=putting words together in a manner of saying your thoughts out immediately with (an) expression notably in a rhyming pattern that follows a rhythm or melody whether structured or unstructured.

Star in the making

Happy 2011 my peoples!!! Yeah no doubt last year was crazy & flippin’ hectic ya’ll were probably wondering where I’m @ hey. Well check this out, this year I’m bringin’ it bigger ‘n better ‘n fresher with a bit of a twist. Today’s article is about a young lady who represents her culture to the max…..ladies ‘n gents da Mad one giveth to you Martha. This is how it went down……when we was chillin’ downtown when I got the lowdown of the breakdown…..word!!!

Martha is a young musician who was born and bred in Roma, Maseru, Lesotho. The 25 year old has independently released her debut offering entitled “Malekapore” which she says means a big predator fish that is found in great depths of the sea. When I asked her why the title; she simply defined herself and talent as being distinct, great, vast and unique to a great extent outstanding even dominating. She fell in love with music in 97, when a friend by the name of LT who used to mcee inspired her. She describes her style of music more afro pop oriented with a bit of jazz influence. She prides herself in her heritage; she believes as a young mosotho woman pursuing the arts she feels the need to express herself artistically embracing her roots.

She attended Roma Primary school then Mononyane High school. After high school she pursued a career in music. “It has been a challenge for me but I have grown as an artist, giving up on my dream is a no no” she says firmly.
Together with a male vocalist named Izo, she released a project titled “Mafaizo 2010” which well, was released last year. It had a 2010 single recorded in 2006 appropriately for the FIFA world cup tournament that was hosted in Mzantsi last year. She later worked with Qiloane Jazz Band which saw her make a name for herself in the capital city of the Mountain Kingdom.

“I want to see my music appreciated and succeeding all over the world as I represent where I’m from. I believe our basotho culture is very rich”.
After performing at the Morija Arts and Culture festival 2010 where she won hearts of the spectators including tourists from Europe, she began recording new tracks that she is currently promoting and pushing on radio stations in her home town of Maseru, Lesotho. She has spoken to a few record companies but still weighing her options. “…..by the time I come out I want to come out with a bang” says a very confident Martha.

Well folks you’ve heard it for yourselves it’s here and it’s happening, look out for this talented young lady, sparking a revolution at the same time touching your soul. Catch her live ‘n direct at a gig near you. Madmuzician signing out don’t sleeeeeepppp!!!

Up ‘n coming!!!

It’s been a while since I dropped an article on the spot (excuse the pun) reason being I’m an original writer not a biter. I go for fresh content not yesterday’s news or some cheap gossip. In today’s news I talk to upcoming hip hop artist Reckzen here in Kempton City. Let’s check out the Q&A guys!

Madmuzician: word up dogg!
Reckzen: Ah! It’s all good
MM: how’ve you been my man
R: well, live ‘n kickin’
MM: I’m gonna get straight to it; r u signed to any record label indie or major?
R: No. But would like to get signed.
MM: how’s the album coming?

R: things are lookin’ good my man can’t complain, have done some singles that are gettin’ airplay as we speak.
MM: who are you working with on the album?
R: Dubi-D is the producer and I’m recording tracks at zzz recording studio. I feature Twitch on raps and CB on vocals.
MM: when r u planning to release the album?
R: by the end of April this year
MM: how long have you been rapping?
R: it’s been 5yrs, started in a group back in my neighbourhood. We called ourselves the Q-squad but 2yrs later I went solo and recorded and release a project titled ‘Fatherless’
MM: so it wasn’t an album?
R: it was an album but I guess at this stage I’d call it a stepping stone for my music career, because now I’ve learned a lot of things about the music industry from producing, recording and performing right up to gettin’ ur stuff in stores.
MM: aight my man I feel you, so r u on any social networks where peeps can holla at u?
R: yeah I’m on facebook and twitter, I’ve recently joined ‘em u know (laughs), will be on youtube soon look out for my music video!
MM: yo! Video, so you’ve been a busy man hey.
R: yeah man my life these days is a huscle from lights to cameras to the action, Reckzen who I be.
MM: what/who inspires you?
R: money inspires me (laughs)....my mom inspires me because she is a strong independent woman who was able to raise me from a boy to a man, she’s a mom and a dad at the same time, she means the world to me.
MM: what about groupies?
R: Nah man! I don’t do groupies I’m in a serious relationship.
MM: any plans in the near future and vision?
R: off course. Live in luxury, no more pain, no more drama, been cryin’ for days ‘n feel like I’m dehydratin’ yo man! It’s like this I wanna see myself movin’ from huscler to millionaire, homies gotta feel my presence ‘g.
MM: got any words for indie artists out there on the grind like you?
R: hard work, discipline and focus, direction determines destination a lotta times. You gotta believe in yourself cos if u don’t no one will.
MM: aight then! Reckzen it was a pleasure my man, take it easy.
R: no doubt peace!

There u have it bafwetu Reckzen doin it for himself. Check him out on facebook/pages/Reckzen/110722452274815?
